Cheap grace teacher: “We will surely find it strange because only good things happen to those who believe God love them.”
St Peter: “But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.” (1 Pet 4:13)
Cheap grace teacher: “You can go ahead to rejoice and participate in the suffering as much as you like. But not for us because the work of Christ is finished in being victorious over suffering. He has exchanged all our suffering with His suffering on the cross.”
St Peter: “If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.” (1 Pet 4:14)
Cheap grace teacher: “We will never be insulted but only honoured because of the name of Christ.”
St Peter: “If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.” (1Pet 4:15-16)
Cheap grace teacher: “Once again I reiterate ! We will not suffer as Christ has suffered on our behalf and has taken all our suffering on Himself once and for all. What shame ! ? We will never be despised for we will have all the wealth and health to the envy of those who do not believe.”
