Reminiscing My First Evangelistic Mission Foray

Just reminiscing the first evangelistic mission foray into the mission field with little or no experience in 2009.

A fellow ministry worker and I were called on this first mission to evangelize a nearby region which we had no idea that it would be the most hostile place to the Good News in this part of the world.

We partnered with a local missionary who acted as our coordinator and translator.  After one year of training, we told the believers to form a fellowship or church.   We supplemented the income of the leaders to enable them to gather all new believers for regular fellowship meeting.

As the group grew to the size of 105 members by the grace of God,  we decided to help them with their livelihood by implementing two projects –  goat rearing and manufacturing of fish boxes.

Reminiscing Ad-hoc Ministry Of Officiating Services

After God gave me a turning point in 2001,  I waited on the Lord for several years before He opened doors for my present ministry in galvanizing churches in the region to fulfill the Manifesto of Christ in the end times.  In between,  I was willing to serve in whatever ministry my service was required.

Just reminiscing the times when I was called to officiate  a Sunday worship service in a nursing home once a month alone and funeral wake service whenever the bereaved families were not able to afford such services.   I would be the MC, guitarist, worship leader and preacher all rolled into one including preparing and printing of order of worship pamphlets.

There were also cases when some churches refused to baptize new believers until they finished the baptism classes or for some other obscure reasons.  But these new believers were dying and could not wait and somehow I was approached to do it.

The Three Common Hyper Grace Promises

I have noticed that most of the sermons given by the false hyper grace teachers revolve around these 3 promises.

  1. Believe you shall have and you shall have.
  2. No harm will befall you as God will protect you.
  3. You shall possess all possessions as you praise and worship Jesus.

On the surface of these rhetorical maxims,  they seem to be great promises of God for being in Christ Jesus.

But such “promises”  will actually contradict the whole counsel of the Word of God that suffering is part and parcel of life of a Christian.  John 15:18-19; 2 Tim 3:12;  1 Pet 4:12;  Heb 12:7-11; Acts 14:22;  1 Thess 3:2-3.

If you examine these rhetorical maxims a little deeper,  you will notice that these promises are not of God but actually of the devil.  The devil actually tempted Jesus our Lord with these same 3 promises which we will always be tempted the same till the end of times.

  1. If you are a child of God, you can ask for anything and it will be done for you. Matt 4:3.
  2. If you are a child of God, no harm will befall you as God will protect you.   Matt 4:6
  3. If you are a child of God, all possessions in this world will be yours.  Matt 4:8-9.

It was the same perennial  3 temptation that Eve was deceived –  the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life.  1 John 2:15-16.

How deceptive are these false hyper grace teachers !    Be warned that in these last days,  these agents will masquerade as apostles of Christ and servants of righteousness but juxtapose fatal gospel error in their teaching.

Observing The Lord’s Supper At The Garden Tomb

What a blessed and meaningful finale of my pilgrimage to observe the Lord’s Supper at the Garden Tomb.

The tour guide shared convincing proof that the Garden Tomb was very likely the place where Jesus our Lord was buried.

Firstly,  our Lord was likely to be crucified in a high human traffic place that the Romans would like the inhabitants to see the fate of criminals just outside the city walls in a place called Golgotha which mean the place of the skull.   A picture of the place before last year showed a face of a skull before the nose bridge was destroyed by snow.

Secondly,  the tomb was in a rich man’s garden as a wine press was discovered.

Thirdly,  the tomb was constructed in such a way with people entering the tomb could see the body to the right with light coming in from a small window to the right of the tomb entrance.

All the evidence in the Garden Tomb fitted the description given in the Bible.

I was given the honor to serve the Lord’s Supper there.  I administered in Chinese as the tour group is mostly from mainland China.

I shared that the best way to remember our Lord’s death till He comes again is to honor and love Him by obeying His commandment to love one another and to make disciples and teach them to do the same.

I have always believed in the unity of the Body of Christ.  I have no reservation to serve with any brother or sister regardless whether he or she is an evangelical or charismatic; or of any denomination, race or language.   I prayed for unity in this respect.   As the Day is drawing near,  I prayed for vigilance in staying watchful in the coming treacherous times.

In a moment of silence examining ourselves,  I prayed quietly by myself that I will be bold to share the gospel to the majority of the unsaved Chinese population, the largest ethnic group,  in my country by sharing and giving out the gospel tract that I have written for this purpose.  And that God will send laborers from all local churches to join me.  All glory and honor  to Jesus our Lord !

My First Pilgrimage To Jerusalem

As I looked at Mount Moriah from the Mount of Olives,  I pondered over this question.

What is so special about Jerusalem ?

In the movie “Kingdom of Heaven”,  after Balian surrendered Jerusalem to Saladin, he asked him, “What is Jerusalem worth ?”  Saladin replied, “Nothing.”  And he started to walk back to his armies.  In a short moment later, he turned around and said to Balian, “Everything.”

It was at Mount Moriah that Abraham was about to sacrifice his son.  A lamb was later sacrificed instead.  The temple built by King Solomon stood at the same place.  Years later, the Lamb of God was to be the Perfect Sacrifice in this same city. (John 1:29).

Abraham was not only the bastion of Faith which was counted unto him as righteousness, but also he was the classic example of a true disciple of Christ.

By his faith-works (not law-works), James 2:21-23,  he expressed his total allegiance to God over his family (Luke 14:26),  himself (Luke 14:27) and his possessions (Luke 14:33).

He was willing to sacrifice his son.  He was willing to leave the luxurious city of Ur for Canaan.  And he was unattached to possessions by allowing Lot to choose the choicest part of the land.

Knowing the arduous road of sanctification is fraught with challenges,  I stood and prayed that the Spirit of God inside of me, the Helper and the Counselor promised by my Lord,  will be training and sanctifying me to surrender every area of my life eventually and preparing me to be fit to be His disciple.  All glory and honor to Jesus my Lord.

Gospel Tract For The Chinese (Final Print Version In Chinese)

The Chinese often thought that Christianity is a foreign western religion.  I hope to show how terribly wrong we are.  Our ancient forebears knew this One and Only True God all along but over the centuries,  we have forgotten about this One and Only God, the Creator of this universe.

Our written language, customs and Chinese philosophies recorded this knowledge.

Right Giving – An Act Of Devotion To God

Luke 21:1-4 NASB
And He looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the treasury. And He saw a poor widow putting in two small copper coins. And He said, “Truly I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all of them; for they all out of their surplus put into the offering; but she out of her poverty put in all that she had to live on.”

This passage clearly reminds us that our offering is only meaningful to God out of a genuine love for Him and not with any other selfish or covetous motive. In Matt 6:1-4, Jesus our Lord already told us that if our giving is to draw and gain recognition from others, our giving will not be acceptable to God. Jesus specifically said that the poor widow gave more than all of the rich that day. Obviously He was not referring literally to the physical absolute amount of money given. Jesus, in His omniscience, even knew the 2 copper coins were all she had to live on.

Jesus is watching intently on our motives for giving our offering today as well. Let’s be sure on this first fact that Jesus our Lord uses a different criterion to weigh our giving – on our hearts and on not our gifts – unlike the tangible criterion the world uses.

Similarly, Jesus weighs on our repentance and not on our works, or on the circumcision of our hearts and not physical circumcision pertaining to our response to the gospel.

What the poor widow put into the treasury was considered more than all the rich Jews put. So let’s be sure that it is not the physical amount Jesus weigh on but the right motive or attitude in giving. The poor widow gave out of poverty while the rich Jews gave out of surplus – contrasting extremes which our Lord always loved to use to illustrate His teachings. The only qualm I can see about the rich giving out of surplus in this incident is probably a nonchalant performance of duty and not an act of devotion, unlike the poor widow. Then consider this : how contemptible it will be if the rich actually give with a covetous heart that God will reward him or her with even more when he or she is already very well off !

Let’s look at the first fallacy.

Jesus would be wrong to commend that the poor widow gave more if this false teaching of the growth formula (growth of multiple fold to what one gives) is to be believed because the poor widow would gain the least among all who gave that day. The real motivation behind such call to sow miracle seed is to raise as much funds as possible for the church and this objective can only be achieved by stoking the greed in the members to give more in physical amount and be rewarded in kind by God. Pittance giving will be considered a nuisance to the fund raising exercise.

On the second fallacy, this false teaching promises deliverance from poverty for sacrificial giving to the church. If it is true, the poor widow should not remain poor all this while till Jesus saw her. If she was giving for the first time, it would be a first time jackpot hit and Jesus was not really omniscient to know. Definitely not the first time because she was a Jew and not young since she was a widow. And if she had been giving with such commendable attitude all this while, then why was she still poor ? Do you follow ?

When the rich gave, the gifts would not hurt them a bit for it would be a pittance of their surplus. But when the poor widow gave, she probably had to go hungry that day for that was all she had to live on. Hallelujah ! The poor widow was really wise to see that storing treasure in Heaven, and not on earth, would last. Her physical hunger was nothing compared to her hunger for God. That was an excellent act of devotion to God. Besides she had survived all this while on little showing she had no lack by the grace of God though she was poor.

Let’s emulate the poor widow in giving out of love for God instead of covetous motive.w1

Prison Ministry – Another Initiative By JC’s Manifesto

It has been a tremendous blessing by the grace of God to serve fellow pastors in Indonesia and Philippines through the Body of Christ Fellowship and National Auxiliary Chaplaincy of Philippines respectively all these years.

I have noticed that many are already serving in prison ministry and it has been my desire to help them to have a formal bible study program in the prison they serve and to seek financial support for them as well.

By the grace of God,  Crossroad Bible Institute (CBI) USA has approved us to start the prison ministry with their blessing in Indonesia and Philippines.  CBI USA has a very comprehensive bible study program.  (http://www.cbi.fm)

Without hesitation,  we intend to start the program in one prison in Karimun and another in Surabaya, Indonesia in April 2016.

***Latest Update (28 Sept 2016)  :   Due to sudden certain development, JC’s Manifesto Ministries will not be cooperating with CBI USA on rolling out the prison ministry.***

God’s Amazing Grace And The World’s Hyper Grace

I believe in God’s grace. He had appeared and told us this : “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matt 19:26).

When I see the indigent poor brothers impossibly live in peace and joy and with no lack, I know this is His amazing grace.  I am overwhelmed and humbled.

When I see hardened criminals and hard-core drug offenders impossibly transform their lives for Christ, I know this is His amazing grace.  I am overwhelmed and humbled.

When I see bereaved brothers impossibly help others with the pain and giving them hope in the coming glory, I know this is His amazing grace.  I am overwhelmed and humbled.

When I see greatly persecuted brothers impossibly living in hope and eagerly awaiting the return of our Savior and Lord, I know this is His amazing grace.  I am overwhelmed and humbled.

But when grace is reduced to wishing for all possessions, all convenience in life, all well-being in life and indulging only in receiving rather than in giving, it is surely not grace from the Great I AM but a lie from the prince of this world (John 12:30-31).

For that is the lie told to Jesus our Lord and us by the prince of this world :
“All the kingdoms of the world and their splendor I will give you if you will bow down and worship me.” (Matt 4:8-10).

(1 John 2:15-16 NLT. 15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world.)
