Evangelistic Musical Concert

Praise and thank the Lord for His provision as the church I serve planned and organised her first musical concert with her limited resources for everything since incorporation one year ago.

In the prior few weeks of planning,  God has answered all our prayer for the availability of venue, funds, good turnout of unsaved friends and relatives, and good weather especially.  The psi reading of the haze was unhealthy for the last 2 days. It read a healthy 70 when the concert started.  Praise and thank the Lord that the weather did not become an obstacle discouraging attendees from turning up for the concert.

What a harvest as many made their decision of their lives by the grace of God ! Hallelujah ! All glory and honour to Him ! What wonderful unity in the church when everyone gave his or her best for His glory.

Brother Asaph hailed from Shanghai is a gospel singer and composer par excellence. An overcomer himself, he testified he would end up on the road to destruction if not for the grace of God. What a testimony, excellent gospel songs and great voice !

Thank the Lord for answering my personal prayer to deliver the gospel message and conduct the Lord’s supper in double quick time without compromise of solemn consecration.

Ministry in Bagan Batu, Riau, Sumatra

Praise the Lord for His divine guidance that I finally made the ministry trip to Bagan Batu, Riau. God’s timing is always right. Praise the Lord for allowing my faith to grow and have a deeper rest in Him.

Despite traveling to the main haze disaster area at this time, we witnessed the wonderful journey mercy of our Lord God and to trust Him wholeheartedly. We arrived on Saturday 26 Sept 2015 when the psi reading of the haze was way above 500.

We prayed for good weather on Sunday and our prayer was granted. The psi reading went down to 100 in the morning in time for the Sunday worship service. The bad haze condition returned in the afternoon and we prayed again. And the skies suddenly poured to clear the haze for the evening service. Hallelujah ! Praise the Lord !

On Monday, we traveled to another town to share in the revival meeting there and the psi reading remained at 100.

On Wednesday early morning when we returned home, the haze condition was so bad. The visibility on the road to the port Dumai was only 50 metres. (See the difference between the mask I used that day and a new one for comparison.)

In a town where there is only 3000 Christians among a population of 70,000 of predominantly Muslim, I have to commend Pastor Siregar and his wonderful wife, Mastiur Silitonga, before God and give Him all the glory and honor, for their tireless labor of love to evangelize this town.

They also set up a Christian mission school there since 8 years ago and the enrolment is now about 800. This is the most wonderful ministry of sharing the gospel in such a town when the young are educated in the knowledge of the truth of the living Son of God.  (The students only pay annual school fee of USD 5 while they support nearly 50 teachers !  What a ministry of faith and love !)

They also invested in a broadcasting radio station 89.1 FM to broadcast the word of God to several cities.

Praise the Lord for allowing me to be the vessel in partnering His wonderful faithful servants and leading me to share the Word of God there to encourage the churches to rise up to set the city on fire for Him. I believe the town will see spiritual awakening soon.

All glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ !

Prayer For The Sick

James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

While we can pray for the sick without being present, nevertheless, when we go and pray in the presence of the sufferer, the prayer is heartfelt and fervid, and the love of one another is so strongly felt as well. It is important to note that we should not assume the elders have a special anointing or gift of healing but rather the elders are representing the whole church in being present with the sufferer.

As we are flesh and blood as well as spirit, the sacrament of oil anointing gives the sufferer a heartfelt presence of the Spirit of our Lord, though we have to be reminded again that there is no magical power in it. Psalms 23: 5.

The sheep in the Middle East are often annoyed by the numerous flies flying around them. And when the shepherd anoints their head with oil, it soothes them so much that they do not bash their heads in frustration against the bushes.  When a baby is feeling discomfort and cries,  the physical touch of the mother is so soothing and comforting.   So likewise, when we feel the presence of the Spirit of our Lord amidst intense suffering, the close communion with our Lord in His soothing touch comforts and uplifts our spirit man.

Sharing The Word Of God In Changchun

While attending the Global Economic Leaders Summit in Changchun, I went to visit the leaders of an established church in the evening last Tuesday hoping to warn about the coming economic flood.

Through word of mouth, many turned up and a special worship service was organized instead. The mass rapid transit (MRT) system has yet to be operational and the bus service ends early. If the worship ends late, those who turn up will have to stay overnight in the church quarters.

Praise the Lord for such exemplary hunger for His Word !

Facebook Group – End Time Bereans

Sometime early last year, I got the prompting from God that I must not keep the message of the coming economic flood within the circles that He had opened doors for me. I tried to see if there were churches or individuals in Malaysia that would be interested to know this message and perhaps to help me write the book as a ghost writer. I read about Dr Lim Poh Ann, a general practitioner, writing regularly on Christian issues, especially the expose on error of false teaching. Knowing God had wanted me to write the message in a book, I approached Dr Lim. Eventually God’s Spirit guided me to write the book in a few days in May last year.

I continued to follow the Facebook discussion on Dr Lim’s groups and I saw the challenge from Pastor Samuel Wong of SOS Assembly church to do something concerning the error of false teaching. Without hesitation, I suggested that we meet up with likeminded brothers and sisters in Kuala Lumpur for a brainstorming session which came to be known as “Teh Tarik” session or tea or coffee fellowship.

It was divine appointment that God also sent a brother Cameron Russell from Australia to join us just for this meeting and a few more invaluable brothers from Kuala Lumpur who are involved in ministry in one way or another.

The result was the birth of the Facebook group End Time Bereans.

I see it as an important ministry of clearly showing the error of very subtle false teaching which our Lord warned us foremost to guard against the spiritual apostasy in the last days.  Luke 21: 8-9.  The spiritual deception will be so subtle and persuasive as to appeal to the itching ears. 2 Tim 4:3-4.11107368_1453585851599249_1641348523057816528_n

Street Preaching

Some years ago, I went to attend the worship service of another church just to have fellowship with a friend I did not keep in touch for many years since we graduated from Singapore Polytechnic.

After the service, an Indian man came over with smile all over his face and he hugged me. I was surprised as I did not have any Indian friend then.

He told me that I gave him a gospel tract many years ago when we were teenagers.  He could even remember my name after all these years.

Wow ! Hallelujah ! Praise the Lord.

Even giving out tracts is good without pausing to share the gospel.

Last week, I witnessed again the impromptu street preaching done by my fellow ministry co-workers either giving out tracts or pausing to share the gospel. It gave us great joy to minister and pray for those who were oppressed and to lead a few unsaved to believe in Jesus our Lord as their personal Savior and Lord.

Writing The Message, The Coming Economic Flood

How did I end up writing the book, The Coming Economic Flood ?

The publishing of the book was the beginning of a journey to formalize this ministry God had called me – JC’s Manifesto.

During the wee hours of one morning in May 2014,  I was so immersed in my quiet time with God that I felt God prompting me to write a book on the visions He had given me over the years.  I was not sure whether it was a voice speaking to my mind or whether it was words that flashed in my mind – only God knew.

I began to come up with excuses.  I argued that the given visions, which happened quite some years ago, would sound so incredible and I was not a product of the mainstream factory producing Christian ministers, so the book would not be well received.  Besides,  I doubted any local publisher would give me an offer.    But God spoke to me that blood would be on my hands if I would not share and the results should be the least of my concerns.

I prayed for removal of writer’s block, if any, and coherency in the story line if it was really His will.

Before I knew it,  over the next 6 to 7 nights,  I was able to write roughly a chapter each night from 12 midnight to 2 am.  Thanks be to God’s Spirit in guiding me along seamlessly.

At the same time, my wife helped to read up on the internet on how to get it published in USA.  Her feedback was anything but encouraging.  She said that the process was tedious.  Firstly, I must get in touch with a publisher’s agent to look into my manuscript to see if it is viable to be published.   After clearing the hurdle at the agent, the other hurdle is the submission of the work to selected publishers by the agent on my behalf.   Some publishers will not allow direct submission.   The whole process will take some 6 months to one year.  And when the work is accepted for publishing, it will take more time in editing, proofreading, typesetting and the whole process of production will take 3 to 6 months.

Again, I prayed to God that if it was really His will for me to write this book,  I must get a book offer fast and also to get the book on the shelf all in 6 months by December 2014 because the message had a deadline by September 2015.

Praise the Lord !  Hallelujah !   I really got the book offer from Charisma Media on June 3rd 2014 within a week upon submission and the book was published with the e-book and print version ready by November and December 2014 respectively.  It is now available at Wal-mart, Amazon, Google, Barnes and Noble, Christianbook.com, Armageddon Books, Charisma House, Rakuten and Alibris.

Last week, I was so surprised to see the book being available here in the local Christian bookstore in Junction 8 shopping mall.

Installation of Water Piping System in Myanmar

After visiting the three villages in one border town along the Myanmar-Yunnan border, hearing about their needs and praying for God’s provision,  my prayer was granted with love gifts coming in to install a water piping system in one village, to pay for renovation in a village church and to bless the missionaries and pastors of these village churches.  Hallelujah !  Praise the Lord !IMG_2657 IMG_2659

Preaching Commitment

Have committed this year to share on a regular basis at 4 to 5 congregations of Alfa Omega Ministries in various parts of the 2 big Riau Islands on Saturday and Sunday worship service.  Though hectic in moving from one congregation to another all in a Sunday, it is a joyful experience to share the Word of God and have fellowship with brothers and sisters in this province.

Have also committed to be on the duty roster to share regularly at Great Commission Church here.   IMG_2227[1] IMG_2240[1] IMG_2245[1] IMG_2251[1]

Mission Trip to Myanmar / Yunnan Border

11 May to 19 May 2015.

Trip to one of the poorest region in Myanmar situated at the eastern border with Yunnan Province, China.  It only had mountain track accessibility in recent years and we are glad to bring much assistance in basic needs to the least of our brothers in Christ. We are reminded that one day, Christ our Lord will not be asking us whether we have tithed faithfully or we have attended worship service faithfully, but whether we have done anything to help the least of our brothers.  Matt 25:31-46.  More than just obedience,  it is a privilege and joy to be our Lord’s vessels of blessings.

We were probably among the first foreign missionaries to reach the place in recent years.

We went through the dangerous mountain track of about 40 km traveling at very low speed.   We crossed over the mountain ridge at the peak of 10,000 feet which was still covered with melting snow.   Our team of 7 was poorly equipped as none of us knew about the climate and terrain before we set off.  Thanks be to God for His protection and presence.
